My good buddy Craig Hare picked up a ticket for me to join he and Mike Elliot at the Algonquin Commons this evening for the 25th anniversary of Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare album. Hard to explain the obvious drive to perfection that his band mates have achieved to play so flawlessly. Vai's engagement of the crowd, and stage presence was unlike anything I've seen before.

The show included video clips of special guests like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Brian May, and Frank Zappa. The video clips were timed perfectly so the video guests' guitar parts were integrated into the actual songs being performed - literally trading guitar licks. With eyes closed, you'd think these other greats were on stage with Vai and the gang. This is the first 'guitar virtuoso' show I've seen. It was a very impressive night of music!
